Successful On-Site Review for the Renewal of RTG2767
Published on in RTG 2767 NEWS
From February 9 to February 10, 2026, the on-site review for the renewal of the Research Training Group (RTG) 2767 took place at TUD Barkhausen Building. After months of preparation by the entire RTG team, the two-day evaluation provided an in-depth review of the scientific research program, the measurable outcomes, and the specific support measures offered by the RTG.
The international review panel, consisting of seven experts, along with three representatives from the German Research Foundation (DFG), assessed the scientific excellence and the structural and content-related quality of the doctoral training program. A key focus of the review was on the doctoral researchers themselves: three PhD candidates from the first and second cohorts delivered scientific presentations showcasing their research projects.
These were followed by two hours of intensive poster discussions, where the doctoral researchers engaged directly with the reviewers to present and defend their work. The doctoral candidates impressed the panel with their expertise, presentation skills, and enthusiasm for their research – a true highlight of the review!
The overall concept of the RTG also received positive feedback. In addition to evaluating the research projects and achievements – such as the number of completed PhDs and publications – the reviewers highlighted the RTG-specific support measures, including the diverse qualification program, international networks, visits by Mercator Fellows, and the comprehensive support provided to the doctoral researchers. The RTG team’s presentation was highly praised by the reviewers.
The on-site review also benefited from strong institutional support: the Vice-Rector for Research and Technology Transfer, Prof. Angela Rösen-Wolff, Chancellor Jan Gerken, as well as representatives from the Graduate Academy, the Diversity Management Unit, and the Service Center Research Data actively participated in the evaluation.
The smooth organization and execution of the review were made possible by the outstanding efforts of the entire team. Special thanks go to Tatjana Sereda, Christina Norkus, and all other helpers who ensured a seamless process. The modern and conveniently located facilities at the Barkhausen Building provided an excellent setting for the review and received high praise from the reviewers.
The RTG now eagerly awaits the final decision on its renewal, which will be made during the DFG Senate meeting on May 29, 2026. We remain hopeful and extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone involved for their exceptional dedication and commitment!
