Eleven TUD researchers are among the most influential in their field and beyond

Four cfaed members in the ranking

Published on in NEWS

A high number of citations is a good indicator of the importance and scientific quality of a research paper. Among those most frequently cited worldwide are eleven researchers from TU Dresden, ten of whom are directly affiliated with TUD. Polymer chemist Xiaodong Zhuang from Shanghai Jiao Tong University named TUD as his second institution. Eight TUD researchers are listed in the Cross-Field category and are thus considered to be of outstanding scientific importance beyond their own field. This is one of the latest findings of the Highly Cited Researcher Rankings, analyzed by the Institute for Scientific Information from the American company Clarivate Analytics.

This year, the ranking includes more than 6,600 researchers from over 1,200 institutions, including around 300 from Germany. This means that TUD is once again one of Germany's leading institutions.

“The current results impressively demonstrate the international significance of research at the University of Excellence TU Dresden. In particular, they testify to the research strength of our academics. Their publications have an impact on professional communities, and also exert influence beyond them, thus making an important contribution to the advancement of scientific knowledge,” emphasizes Prof. Angela Rösen-Wolff, Vice-Rector Research at TUD.

With Xinliang Feng, Thomas Mikolajick, Minghao Yu, and Stuart Parkin (Max Planck Institute for Micrustructure Physics, Halle) cfaed feels honoured to find four of its members on the list.

Information about the ranking:
The data company Clarivate Analytics lists scientists who have been involved in several of the most cited one percent of publications in their field over the past decade, categorized by publication year. The evaluation is based on the Science Citation Index Expanded™ and the Social Sciences Citation Index™. This year’s list of Highly Cited Researchers covers the decade from 2013 to 2023. In addition to being an individual award for the researchers, the result is equally an expression of the performance strength of their teams.
