Winners of the 2020 cfaed Scientific Images Contest announced

The winners of this year‘s cfaed Scientific Images Contest have now been officially announced. During the cfaed Council Meeting on Wednesday, 02 September 2020, the four chosen prize winners were presented to the members.
The Council Meeting took place in a hybrid format. Most of the 15 attendees participated in person whereas others were connected via an online meeting tool. The cfaed board members Stefan Mannsfeld and Uta Schneider hosted the meeting.
After the announcement of the four finalists, the detailed ranking was announced by Stefan Mannsfeld. The awardees received their winning images as large print-outs.
Here are the winners:
- Place: Dis/Order II by Felix Talnack (Chair for Organic Devices)
- Place: HeLa Cells Distribution by Anna Eichler-Volf (HZDR)
- Places: Hellish Glow by Markus Löffler (dcn) and Pop-Art Diatoms by Darius Pohl (dcn)
The cfaed Scientific Images Contest nominates the most inspiring and unique science art images each year. Scientists and researchers from all around the cfaed network are participating by nominating their research pictures. The images are later published via the cfaed Instagram Channel (external link) and some entries might be printed and displayed in the Barkhausen Building (D-Wing).
