Nonlinear dynamics of epidemic spreading in urban transport networks - impact of paratransit in a case study for Cape Town, South Africa

Project description

How do paratransit modes, dominating urban transport networks in many cities of the Global South, influence local epidemic spreading of infectious diseases such as COVID-19? The project team develops a framework capable of quantitatively estimating the joint impact of the organization of paratransit transport service and individual spatiotemporal mobility choices. A successful study will support the evaluation of detailed containment conditions and relaxation scenarios, thereby enabling quantitative guidance for policymaking on a microscopic, sub-city level.
