TUD's Chair for Materials Science and Nanotechnology and cfaed are jointly organizing an international conference on Nanobiosensors. This conference will host international experts in the field of nanotechnology and biosensors. The gathering of interdisciplinary researchers will enable active discussions and new cooperation between international groups. The main scientific areas that will be covered are:

We are pleased to congratulate cfaed Strategic Professor Xinliang Feng (Chair for Molecular Functional Materials) for being selected as one of two winners receiving the 2017 Small Young Innovator Award. Prof. Feng was distinguished for his significant contributions to 2D nanomaterials research. The inauguration ceremony took place on May 16 during the "Small Science Symposium" in Hong Kong, co-organized by the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Hong Kong Baptist University, and Wiley. The award is endowed with a certificate and a USD 1,000 purse.
The Small Young Innovator Award recognizes outstanding, interdisciplinary scientific work in the development and fundamental understanding of nanoscience and nanotechnology by a young scientist or engineer. The award winner must also show exceptional promise as a developing leader in the areas of nanoscience and nanotechnology.

Aus den Händen von Sachsens Ministerpräsident Stanislaw Tillich erhält Frau Professor Dr. Brigitte Voit am 29. Mai 2017 den Sächsischen Verdienstorden. Mit dieser höchsten staatlichen Auszeichnung des Freistaates Sachsen werden Menschen geehrt, die sich im politischen, wirtschaftlichen, kulturellen, sozialen, gesellschaftlichen oder ehrenamtlichen Bereich in herausragendem Maße engagiert haben.
Prof. Voit ist Principal Investigator im cfaed und stellvertretende Leiterin des Forschungsbereiches "Chemical Information Processing".

A paper from cfaed’s Chair for Molecular Functional Materials co-authored by researchers at universities and institutes in Germany, France and Japan has been published in Nature Communications on 17th May 2017. The paper titled “Efficient hydrogen production on MoNi4 electrocatalysts with fast water dissociation kinetics” describes a new approach to revolutionize the production of molecular hydrogen. This gas is considered to be one of the most promising energy carriers of the future.

Our Biological Algorithms Research Group Leader Dr. Benjamin Friedrich was selected as a "TUD Young Investigator"! Now he is one of currently 17 TUD scientists having this special status. The "TUD Young Investigator" status strengthens independent junior research group leaders by fostering their integration into the faculties and offering a qualification programme tailored to their particular needs. The status is awarded for a limited time and includes some special rights being normally reserved for professors.
