Congratulations to Jens Bartelt and Lukas Landau from the Vodafone Chair Mobile Communications Systems at TU Dresden! They won the "Best Paper Award" within Track 1 of the Twelfth International Symposium on Wireless Communication Systems 2015, Brussels, Belgium. Their paper titled "Improved Uplink I/Q-Signal Forwarding for Cloud-based Radio Access Networks With Millimeter Wave Fronthaul" was co-authored by cfaed cluster coordinator Prof. Gerhard Fettweis.

Jana Kalbacova, cfaed PhD student at the Semiconductor Physics Group (TU Chemnitz), was awarded with the cfaed INSPIRE Grant within the 2014 call. She spent two months in the group of Dr. Angela Hight Walker at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) in Gaithersburg, Maryland, USA.
The research was focused onto studies of defects in single-walled carbon nanotubes, towards understanding their role in technological applications. This issue is an important topic for the cfaed Carbon Path where it will help further developing high frequency field effect transistors for telecommunications, as well as support to the device modelling groups.

Yesterday we had the pleasure to celebrate the groundbreaking act for our new building. Saxony's finance minister Prof. Georg Unland together with representatives oft he Ministry of Science, the University and the Public Enterprise Sächsisches Immobilien- und Baumanagement committed this symbolic step. Also cfaed's cluster coordinator Prof. Gerhard Fettweis interrupted his research stay in California to join the ceremony.Construction work of the extension to today’s South wing of the Barkhausen Building at TUD campus will last until the end of 2017. The project is financed with € 35 million by the Saxon State government, based on funding from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).

Staatsminister Prof. Georg Unland (Sächsisches Staatsministerium der Finanzen) wird gemeinsam mit Matthias Hüchelheim (Sächsisches Staatsministerium für Wissenschaft und Kunst), dem Rektor der TU Dresden, Prof. Hans Müller-Steinhagen, und dem Koordinator des cfaed, Prof. Gerhard Fettweis, am 24.08.15 den ersten Spatenstich für den Neubau des Exzellenzclusters Center for Advancing Electronics Dresden (cfaed) ausführen.
