The change of Prof. Dr. Karl Leo to King-Abdullah-University of Science and Technology in Saudi-Arabia would be a great loss for the Center for Advancing Electronics Dresden (cfaed). Prof. Dr. Karl Leo is leader of the research path „Organic/Polymer Path” and has been responsible for essential parts of the complete research conception of the cluster of excellence of the Technische Universität (TU) Dresden.

Congratulations from the cluster: Cfaed-scientists are also successful in the „Initiative Zwanzig20“. The Federal Ministry of Education and Research today announced a grant of 45 million of euro for the project „FAST – Fast Actuators Sensors and Transceivers. A further sum of 30 million of euro should be contributed by the industry.

Two members of cfaed, Anja Henning and David Teich, will receive the Professor Schwabe Award of the Technische Universität (TU) Dresden 2013 for young scientists. The Award Ceremony led by the prorector for research, Prof. Dr. Gerhard Rödel, will be held on July 11, at 5 pm, in the Erich-Müller-Building.

On 5 July, at 9.30 am, Prof. Jan M. Rabaey, University of California at Berkeley, will give a guest lecture titled “The Innovation is in the Mind – The Converging Trajectories of IT, Neuro and Nano”. The lecture will be held at the Heinz-Schönfeld-Hörsaal in the Barkhausenbuilding, Georg-Schumann-Straße 11.

During the Long Night of Sciences at 5 July, the Center for Advancing Electronics (cfaed) of the Technische Universität Dresden will organize an orienteering race on campus. Successful participants can win cfaed t-shirts. At this evening event, the new interdisciplinary cluster of excellence for microelectronics will be present at 17 different campus Locations.
