The Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) has announced that our draft proposal was successful! We are invited to submit a full proposal for funding by the Excellence Strategy of the German Federal and State Governments due 21 Feb 2018. This confirms that our research approach during the last five years is on the right track. Now, after a short moment of celebrations, we will start writing again. Our major goal remains to strengthen the fundamental microelectronics research and therefore support Dresden as the most important microelectronics hub in Europe.

Starting 1st of October 2017, a new group will join cfaed: The Single Molecule Machines group led by Dr. Francesca Moresco will use on-surface synthesis as well as atomic and molecular manipulation to exploit the quantum mechanical properties of molecular and atomic structures for applications in electronics at the nanoscale.
In close collaboration with TU Dresden’s Chair of Materials Science and Nanotechnology (Prof. Gianaurelio Cuniberti) at the Institute of Materials Science, the group will investigate the electronic and mechanical properties of single molecules on ultra clean surfaces by scanning tunneling microscopy and spectroscopy at low temperature.
